I have a choice on my Mac Mini but can’t seem to find how to do so on my iPad. We could work around this entire issue by using third-party Dock and App Switcher utilities, but that just invites other issues, cost and headaches that I would rather not deal with. I can live with it either way, but I'm still annoyed by the underlying problem we're discussing. Personally, I haven't decided which way I'm going with the Separate Spaces feature. I REALLY hated the App Switcher changing screens. In Settings > Displays > Arrangement, drag the thin grey bar (representing the menu bar) from the box representing the current display with the dock to the box to the other display's box.

I sometimes miss not having the Dock on other displays if I happen to be dealing with something on those displays, but other than that I guess it's not much of a difference to get used to. Best workaround I have found so far: When the spaces are arranged vertically, you can move the dock by switching which display is the primary display.

But you can set the autohide-delay user defaults to a larger value which also affects the time it takes for the Dock to move screens. Prior to Big Sur I could move the dock by hovering my mouse near the bottom of either display. I havent found any solutions to permanently lock the Dock to a single screen in macOS. I have the arrangement set to stacked with the primary monitor on top with the secondary monitor on the bottom.
